Looks like we need to set up a steady rest on ST1004 .2500-.1900 Step Reamers. I'm going to get that set up.
I also I am going to pre-balance the groove wheel for the grooved spotface drills and then dress all 3 angles, the clearance angle, the OD, and the face and hopefully I can hold a .003" radius on the 600 grit wheel.

Well I tried just dressing the step wheel which looked in pretty bad shape but it isn't getting me anywhere so I'm setting up the steady rest on the reamers. I'm pretty sure we've always used a steady rest. One reason to think we might not need one on these tools is that the margin isn't clipping like it would if there were a lot of push off.

I balanced the groove wheel and dressed it up good for the step drills. So far everything is looking really good. The spotface grind isn't exactly 90° so I'm correcting that now. The teeth profiles look much better.

Well the steady isn't working. It was slamming up alarmingly fast and I looked and one of the valves was cocked at a strange angle. I got it seated back like it should be but now I'm having trouble dialing in the correct pressure on each valve to raise and lower the steady rest.
